Humane concerns – removing mouse from a glue trap.

Unlike many glue traps, Catchmaster ‘s glue formula has no oil – that makes the glue so strong. If you wish to remove rodent from the glue trap, simply pour (spray) some vegetable oil on the glue and the mouse should get off easily and painlessly. Instead of vegetable oil, you can also use baby oil or any oil lubricant.

Catchmaster glue boards model numbers – 1872, 60M, 72MB

Catchmaster has different model numbers for virtually the same kind of trap. The only difference between model # 18-72 and 60M is … packing. 18-72’s are packed in envelopes with 4 traps each, while 60M is a bulk pack of 60 traps in a box. Difference in packing is for buyers convenience only. For home use it is better to get envelopes. It is easier to store them and the glue on the trap is not exposed to drying or dust. 60M’s are just slightly cheaper, and are for buyers who constantly use them (like in warehouses, stores, barns). Both 18-72 and 60M are 8” x 5.5” , while 72MB is 8” x 4”. As far as the last trap go, it is just a bit narrower than previous traps. Besides the size, trap is exactly like previous model, however it is available only for licensed exterminators. Different model numbers really are just a way to differentiate between customers. I have not found any other difference between them – glue strength, scent are exactly the same.

Mouse and rat baits: ideas and tips

Do you have a live (humane) mouse trap or an old fashioned snap trap, and cannot trap the rodents? Despite all the cartoons mice do not really like cheese that much. Of course they might be lured to cheese eventually, however they are more likely to resist it than in example: chocolate. Sweets overall are very strong draw in for rodents. Some of the baits that I tested and found to be very effective are:
- bar of chocolate
- peanut butter
- Snickers candy bar
- Cereal (Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms etc.)
- Cookies

In case of peanut butter however, if you’re fighting mice for quite some time and have been using glue traps in past, mice might not be attracted due to fact that most of glue traps are peanut butter scented.

A little different approach to luring mice that is very effective especially with live catch traps are:
- water
- nesting materials (wool, feathers, piece of cloth etc.)

All of the above baits will work for both: mice and rats, nonetheless if trying to get rid of rats you might also try:
- bacon (and other meats)
- fruits
- vegetables

We must remember that mice and rats are learning fast and wee need to change the baits frequently. If you caught a rodent using peanut butter lure, the next day try putting something else to the trap. Create a variety for rodents so they will not associate bait to the trap.

Gone green - Non toxic, environment friendly traps

If we use harmful chemicals to attack bugs, only the strong survive. They breed, and then we've got a smarter "enemy" with which to contend. Less pesticides is used while maintaining an effective rodent management program. This is ideal for use in areas with children and pets where low toxicity is an issue.
Live humane traps are even more green and they are humane .
Green is the way to go, to help our environment for the next generation. But they have to be effective and Catchmaster’s mouse boards are the gold standard in non toxic green adhesive technology. Try them and you will see.

How to get rid of roaches? Catchmaster 716 and 705 (99.9% Boric Acid)

Roaches are very hard to get rid off. The most obvious and crucial thing in fighting them is to keep the apartment /clean. Do not leave any food overnight on countertops, tables, sinks etc. This is a major roach magnet. A good idea, but sometimes impossible to do, is to cover ALL holes that roaches might be coming through. Grab a spatula, some compound or plaster and cover every single hole (You can also use silicone). Making an environment where they will not feel comfortable and will not have plenty of food is the key to get rid of them. If you’re living in a big apartments building, you must double your efforts, and still you might not be able to get rid of them totally. Roaches are wanders, so if one of your neighbor has them there is a big chance that they will visit you too. If it is possible try getting neighbors all together to fight roaches (hire an exterminator that will visit the building once a month and spray the apartments?)

There is plenty of chemicals, traps, poisons, sprays for insects that you can use yourself. Insect Glue boards help you catch roaches, some chemicals kill them instantly or just repel them. Boric Acid works two ways. It may be digested or carried to the nest.
When a roach walks in to the white powder, he will carry it on his feet and to the nest where the small roaches will it and die.
Besides just pouring the powder you can make special baits.

Boric acid – Bait #1

1. Buy boric Acid.
2. Boil 2-3 potatoes (cut them in to plasters)
3. Pour boric acid on potatoes
4. Put overnight where roaches are seen
5. Pick the bait in the morning.
6. Repeat.

Boric acid – Bait #2

1. Buy Boric Acid
2. Boil 2 eggs for about 2 hours (they need to smell intensively!)
3. Boil a potato.
4. Squash potato and Eggs together adding Boric Acid
5. Formulate small rolls and put them on routes of roaches (make sure to put them in all warm places)
6. After couple of days roaches should be gone.

Using Boric Acid is a very cheap and effective method of fighting roaches; however as I said before, clean house is crucial.

Catchmaster # 812 Pantry Moth Glue Trap /w sex attractant.

It is very likely that at one point in our lives we will have to fight pantry moths. Whether pests are Indian Meal Moths, Tobacco Moths, Flour Moths, Mediterranean Moths or Raisin Moths, they are very difficult to get rid off.

Catchmaster #812 can very effectively help you to limit population of insects. As with all glue traps, the glue itself is very important (ask you seller how long he stored the traps). Catchmaster company is known for it's glue strength, but with this trap the pheromone attractant is far more important. A small square sticker that you put inside the trap is excellent bait. Within first hours you'll be able to notice moths coming out to the trap.

However there is a weak point to this trap (and all other glue traps as well as pheromone traps) – the pheromone attracts only male moths. As I said in the beginning – this trap will help you limit the number of moths and make your fight against them easier. Beside the trap you'll need to seal all pantry products (flour, bird seed, dog food, candies, cookies, chocolate etc.). By eliminating their food source the larva moths will not develop.

Catchmaster #812 is very helpful trap with strong glue and first-class attractant. It's a must-have to help you get rid of those pesky moths.

Catchmaster™ glue traps. Model 18-72 (1872)

Catchmaster is a well known company in pest control industry and specializes in glue traps. One of their prime products is model 18-72 (1872). It's a 5 ¼” x 8” trap that you can fold to a small box or place flat on the ground. As far as trap looks like all traps by competition, what differentiates this product is glue strength. 1872 glue traps ranked at 100% in relative holding power (tack) whereas those of other companies ranked merely above 57%. Glue is pre-baited with a delicate peanut butter scent to attract mice, insect and snakes (!!) - yes, it is capable of holding small snakes !

One of biggest drawbacks of all glue traps is their glue life span. Catchmaster states that their traps will remain effective for up to 1 year when used at home and up to 3 years of shelf life. Whenever you're buying any kind of glue trap – always ask the seller when it was manufactured and how long he has his stock!

Furthermore traps are non-toxic and safe to use at home.

I've been selling these traps for over 2 years and have received great feedback about them. I could truly recommend these traps to anyone. Simply they are very effective and affordable. You do not need to do anything else besides placing the traps in a place where mice are noticed. No need to use cheese, chocolate (which by the way is very strong bait for mice) or any other lure.

I'll try to review as many products from Catchmaster line as it is possible. I've been working with (not in - with) that company for over 2 years and find their products very effecting - but not without flaws. I'll try to give my opinion and hints on as many items as it will be possible.
